Association of Aerospace Industries
The Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore) or "AAIS" is a leading industry
association for the Aerospace Industry in Singapore, representing companies from the
Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector, Aerospace Manufacturing sector, Research
and Development / Training sectors and suppliers for civil air transport and aerospace
defence.
Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) is a statutory board under the Ministry
of Transport. It represents the government in the negotiation of air services agreements
as well as advises on matters related to civil aviation. Besides ensuring smooth and
efficient airport operations, it also regulates and promotes the development of air
transport. One of its key roles is to anticipate and deal effectively with the changing
needs and demands of the aviation industry. This has aided in the transformation of
Changi Airport into a major global air hub.
Economic Development Board
The Economic Development Board (EDB) is the lead government agency responsible for
planning and executing economic strategies to enhance Singapore's position as a global
hub for business and investment. EDB is the one-stop agency that facilitates and supports
local and foreign investors in both the manufacturing and services sectors as they
seek more value-creating operations, higher sustainable returns and new business opportunities.
Defence Science and Technology Agency
The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) is the first statutory board to be
set up under the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). It is responsible for implementing
defence technology plans, managing defence research and development, acquiring defence
materiel and developing defence infrastructure for MINDEF.
National Space Society
GSTC 2008 has the full support and endorsement of the National Space Society, an organization
with chapters nationwide in the United States and international chapters around the
world. NSS also organizes the annual International Space Development Conference. GSTC
2008 work closely with George Whitesides, Executive Director of the National Space
Society.
Republic Polytechnic
Republic Polytechnic (RP) is an official endorser for GSTC 2008. Republic Polytechnic
is a local educational institution, which boasts an acclaimed degree program in Aerospace
Engineering (as well as other engineering programs). Republic Polytechnic has offered
to assist in promoting and marketing the convention to students in Singapore via the
local school channels.
Satellite Engineering Centre
The Satellite Engineering Centre (SEC) of Nanyang Technological University aims to
be a centre of excellence in satellite engineering research and development, with
capabilities to spearhead the creation of innovative space technologies and satellite
system designs to meet the challenges of the modern world. SEC has collaborated with
a number of international space organizations and research centers on micro-satellite
mission designs and development. In addition, SEC has also participated in academic
and technical deliberations in international conferences, workshops, and symposiums
on space science and technologies.
Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau
GSTC 2008 has the approval and full endorsement of Singapore Exhibition & Convention
Bureau (SECB), a group under Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in charge of the economic
development of Singapore's exhibition and convention sector. SECB will be able to
support GSTC 2008 positively in making it a success.
Singapore Polytechnic
Singapore Polytechnic, the nation's first educational institution of its kind, was
set up in 1954 to train technologists and professionals to support the industrialisation
and economic development of Singapore. Since then, its development has paralleled
the progress of modern Singapore.
Singapore Technologies Engineering
Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) is a global, integrated, engineering
group with capabilities spanning the aerospace, electronics, marine, and land systems
sectors.
ST Engineering's multi-sector capability enables it to provide integrated engineering
solutions for customers in over 60 countries. Reflecting the changing needs of its
customers, and to stay ahead of technological developments, ST Engineering actively
seeks out complementary technologies in areas such as biometrics, robotics, artificial
intelligence and explosive detection. A dedicated advanced engineering centre, FusionWorks,
was set up to spearhead the search for emerging and disruptive technologies.
Space Tourism Society
The Singapore chapter works closely with the Space Tourism Society – World Headquarters
and its president, Mr. John Spencer. The Space Tourism Society has many initiatives
to promote space tourism, with chapters around the world and affiliations with key
figures and companies in the space industry. GSTC 2008 has the Space Tourism Society’s
full support and endorsement, with Mr. Spencer acting as one of our key advisors for
the planning of the event.
Temasek Polytechnic
Temasek Polytechnic is providing their expertise and professional advice on the relevant
engineering-related sectors and exhibit technologies. In addition, they have collaborated
with the GSTC committee to construe an attachment program for selected students to
play a role in organizing the convention. Key benefits are that students will learn
real-life business skills and be exposed to the latest in space-technology and engineering
fields.
